General Statement of Duties: The Flow Cytometry Technologist is responsible for: performing complex flow cytometry and other medical laboratory tests for diagnosis and treatment of disease, ensuring instrument operations and results are accurate and timely, maintenance of complicated instruments, monitoring quality control and quality assurance programs, assuring compliance with regulations and standards of regulatory agencies, and managing special projects. Performs manual white blood cell and bone marrow differentials. Essential Job Functions:

Minimum Education, Experience, Training, Required Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and Other Job-Related Characteristics: 1. Education: Associates degree required and Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Previous experience in Flow Cytometry is preferred. 2. Experience: Previous experience in Flow Cytometry 3. Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable). Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required: 1. Required: : One of the following certifications is required: MT(ASCP), MT(AMT), MT(AAB), CLS(NCA), MT(HEW). Certification is waived for internal employees that challenged the career ladder and were promoted to the position prior to June 9, 2001. 2. Preferred: MT(ASCP) |
